Education at St. Marks

St. Marks offers various educational opportunities both on Sundays and throughout the week.

Sunday School for Children and Youth

Ages 3 years old through 1st Grade
This class uses Godly Play, which is loosely based on the Montessori method of instruction. It focuses on Bible and enrichment stories and the opportunity to respond to the stories through play.

2nd Grade through 5th Grade
This class uses workshop cycles. Teachers will rotate through the classroom offering drama, art, cooking, flower arranging, and story time. Themes studied this program year include: The Good Shepherd, Esther, Our Church, Epiphany, the Eucharist, and Samuel.

Middle and High School Youth
This class uses an Episcopal Curriculum that brings Scripture into conversation with life questions like good and evil, happiness, truth, and ultimate meaning – not unlike the questions of today’s young people.

Special Events for Children

Special events are offered during the year, such as the St. Francis Blessing of the Animals, our “Trick-or-Trunk” Halloween event, the visit from St. Nicholas, the Christmas Pageant, the Easter Egg Hunt, and Vacation Bible School.
